Reiki

Reiki (pronounced ray-key) is a Japanese word that literally translates as “Spiritual Energy”. “Rei” means Spiritual. “Ki” in Japanese is the same as “Chi” in Chinese. You have most likely heard of Chi. Ki is the energy that flows through all living things and is known as the life force.

Reiki is ultimately the practice of compassion. An animal Reiki practitioner offers this energy to support an animal in their healing process. Within this process a deepening of the connection and relationship between human and animal can occur as well as healing. Reiki works on the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual levels of each individual.

There are many schools of Reiki at this time. I teach and practice the system of Traditional Japanese Reiki. Most people think of Reiki as hands on healing only, but there is so much more to the practice. The System of Traditional Japanese Reiki is made up of 5 elements: Meditations, The Reiki Precepts, Symbols & Mantras, Reiju & hands on healing. These elements are taught in the 3 levels of Reiki.

Reiki is perfect for animals for many reasons. You do not need to physically touch an animal during a treatment for them to receive or take what ever they might need. Reiki is wonderful when working with animals that are shy, skittish, shelter or rescue animals that may have come from abuse situations, injured animals, animals getting ready to make their transition and especially wild animals.
