As a workshop sponsor you will attend the workshop for free and receive a percentage of the workshop fee if 10 or more people attend the workshop.

What does a sponsor do?

  • You will host the workshop in your home or other location. We will need a room that can hold 10 - 30 people comfortably. The location needs to be quiet and not have people walking through the room. Chairs need to be provided. Sponsors need to provide water and healthy snacks like fruit and sugarless cookies. Hot water and herbal tea is also nice to have on hand. There also needs to be a restroom near by.

  • Remind participants to bring their own lunches each day. Some sponsors make arrangements with a local deli or caterer for lunch each day. It is a good idea to eat light food during the workshops like, soups, salads, pasta salads, and vegetarian cuisine. Try not to have caffeine, but if you are a heavy coffee or soda drinker, this is not a good time to go cold turkey. The lunch break will be one hour, allowing participants to go out to lunch if a restaurant is near by.

  • The sponsor needs to arrange to have 2-3 well behaved animals to practice on the second day of the workshop. They can be dogs, cats, mice, hamsters, snakes, horses, goats, llamas, any animal companion. ( It is not a problem if it is not possible to have animals in the building. We can work from photos.)

  • Remind participants that they need to bring photos of their animals, or animals that they know well, to learn long distance communication skills.

What else does the sponsor do?

As soon as the time and dates have been confirmed, Janet will send you a master flyer that you can copy and send to any data base that you have access to, to hand out to folks that you know and to distribute to various places where you might find interested people.
